On Sunday we had our first family outing to the Urgent Care for Benjamin to get stitches. While he was in Primary he tripped and fell face first onto a wooden toy. He cut the space between his eye and eyebrow. I was glad that the Urgent Care wasn't that busy when we got there, but by the time we left there was a nice big line!! Anyway, the doctor accessed the cut and decided that it would be best if he got stitches. So they took us to the room where they place stitches and just as they took the papoose board down from the wall and started to put Ben into it, I stepped out of the room. I really didn't want to watch and I didn't feel like Ben needed 4 four people telling him what to do. I also felt like Doug could handle the situation a little better than I could. (He has had ton of stitches in his lifetime.) It was hard enough listening to him scream from down the hall. Doug said that he felt like the anesthetic didn't kick in until after they were done, because he would be fine until the doctor placed a stitch and that's when he would scream. Considering all that had happened, Ben did a great job and was pretty brave. After we were done at the Urgent Care we thought it was only fare to go and get ice cream. Because ice cream makes everything better!!
I am surprised that it has taken Ben two and half years, to get his first set of stitches. If you know Doug, you know that he spent a lot of time in the ER with his dad getting some injury taken care of. I knew it was only a matter of time, before Ben would make the same trip! Doug said that it was kind of a tradition that his dad would take him to the ER, so I thought it was fitting that Doug be with Ben! No offense Grandpa Hurst, but this is one tradition that I hope doesn't continue. Although Doug's knowledge of stitches has really come in handy!

Oh what a brave boy you have!!! I dread the day that something like that happens to Isabelle.
He looks so happy and proud in that last picture!
ooohhh, i hate dr. visits. Glad things were taken care of quickly though and that he is doing well. we've never done stitches yet(knock on wood) just x-rays.
I had a doctor stitch Brandon's hand once without anesthetic. Didn't know what he was doing until it was over and I could have killed the man. He swore it was because the stitch was less painful than the shot would have been. Not for me! and wasn't he treating me too? I'll never get that scream and look out of my head.
