Memorial Day 2013

For Memorial Day we went to the Platt River. The kids love to play in the water and usually Doug brings his fishing stuff and him and Benjamin go fishing. But not this time, Doug wanted the girls to have fun too.

Eating lunch by the river

Looking  for fools gold.

So proud of herself for peeing in the wilderness!
Genevieve kept telling us she had to pee. Peeing in the wilderness is not for everyone and it takes a little bit of talent. So I let Doug teach her how to do it. (its my least favorite part about camping) By the time we left she peed all by herself 3 times, she thought it was fun!

My boys aren't happy with just looking at the river. They must get in and play. Which makes me a little or a lot nervous but they really enjoy it.

Genevieve standing by, being the lifeguard. Maddi doesn't like to get dirty nor does she like to be cold, so she didn't have as much fun. But hey that's what family time is all about!

Genevieve's Dance class

>
Geneveieve has been taking a dance class for a couple of months now. She was really shy at first but has really warmed up to it. Today we got to get a sneak peek at what they have been working on for there up coming dance rectail.

Maddi loved watching Genevieve dance, she would clap in all the right places too.
Miss Jen is moving and we are going to miss her so much! She did such a great job with these cute little girls!

Easter 2013

This year we went to the High school for the annual Easter Egg hunt. Except it wasn't much of a hunt. They had everyone gather around the track, where there were thousands of eggs. Then they had a helicopter come and drop another couple thousand eggs onto the field. It was pretty fun to watch, but Genevieve was terrifed that the helicopter was going to land on her. Yes, thats Genevieve covering her face. She can be a real stinker sometimes!Benjamin got so many eggs that I made him stop and share with Genevieve and help other kids get some eggs too. Maddi liked to hold the eggs and shake them. Easter morning we got up and gave to kids there Easter baskets. Nothing super exciting, but thats the way we like it. Doug and I have tried really hard to make sure the kids know what the true meaning of Easter is and why we celebrate it. I think the kids had fun with the Easter egg hunt that we did for them in our backyard.

Family Fun at Skate City

Ever since I took Benjamin skating, he has been begging me to take him again. But since it was a fight with Genevieve last time, I figured we would wait and go as a family. And if Doug is there then I myself would not have to skate, cause I had Maddi. Good thinking on my part if you ask me!!

This time we were to at least able to get Genevieve to wear some skates. She would only walk around in them, she wanted nothing to do with going out into the rink.
The kids were kind of bored when they would clear the rink and let the parents skate without kids. Doug loved it though.
I have said it before and I will probally say it again. Genevieve is one of those kids that is freaked out by something until you make her do it. Doug tried to show her how much fun skating is, she wasn't buying it.
Genevieve somehow got the ski ball machine to work without putting money into it.
At first she would pick up a ball and throw it, like you would a baseball. I decided she needed a little help before she hurt someone.
She then taught Benjamin how to start the game without paying for it. Truth be known I think the kids had more fun playing with the ski ball more than they did skating.

Oh Christmas Tree!

I can't believe I did it, but this year I finally convinced my husband into getting a fake Christmas tree. It pretty much goes against everything that Doug believe's in, when it comes to Christmas trees, but my frugality won and we bought our very first fake Christmas tree!! I even got the sales people to lower the price of said tree because it was the very last one and it was the display. Then Doug came along and convinced the lady to drop the price even more because a strand of the lights weren't working. So we walked away with a beautiful 7.5 ft prelite tree for really cheap!
The kids had a fun time decorating the tree.
Maddilyn and I had a fun time watching them decorating the tree. She really wanted to get down and undo what they were doing.
They were really proud of the finished product and I was really proud that my frugality won!! I just hate literally throwing away $60-70 bucks when Christmas over. Maddi has spent the last month doing her very best at pulling everything off the tree.

Skate City

During our two week fall break, I took the kids to Skate city. On Thursdays they open their doors to kids 2-6 years old. They teach them how to skate, to stop and how to fall without hurting themselves. They also give them snacks and drinks. Benjamin and Genevieve were so excited by this idea. But once we got there and I got the skates on Genevieve she wanted nothing to do with it. I was that mean parent that literally put there kid in the rink and walked away. Yeah, that didn't last long. But she is the type of kid that will be freaked out by something until she tries it and then she loves it doesn't want to stop. Horse back riding, was one such thing she hated until we forced her and then she won't get off the poor horse. Skating was not fun as horse back riding apparently. So I gave in and she watched on the side lines with me and Maddi.

Benjamin had so much fun! He has asked that we miss school on a Thursday, so that he can go skating. Hopefully, we can go as a family one of these days so that Genevieve will do it.
As always, Maddi was the chill baby. I think she is getting sick of having her picture taken though.
